Affording Group Health Insurance
As a business owner or decision maker, you certainly know all of the advantages of giving a group medical plan option to your employees.
- Every individual does not have to qualify or get individually underwritten to be accepted. You can get accepted as a group so you can offer a medical plan to all employees, regardless of pre-existing health conditions.
- You can certainly deduct your costs from your taxes as a business expense. And you can offer your employee’s some pre-tax ways to save for health expenses too.
- Studies have determined that company health insurance helps attract and retain quality employees. Companies demonstrate concern for their people, and their people’s families.
So Why Doesn’t Your Business Have A Group Medical Plan Yet?
Well, it is probably obvious that the one reason your company does not have a company-wide health insurance plan in place is because of a fear of the cost and administrative effort. But before you decide that you cannot offer this valuable benefit, why not take a few minutes to analyze all of the facts.
- You can obtain free quotes from competitive group health plan companies. At least you will be able to look at a number so you can decide if this is withing your business budget or not. Keep in mind that your share of premiums should be deductible too.
- You can share the premiums with your employees. Few companies bear the entire burden themselves. If your employees desire coverage, they are probably willing to share the cost.
- A variety of options are on the market these days. In my opinion, a higher deductible health insurance plan is better than none. And with FSA (flexible spending accounts), there are some tax effective ways for the workers to plan for medical expenses that will not be covered by the major medical plan.
- леглаConsider how much more likely your best employees will be to stick around if you are helping them provide health care for their families. Also think about how many times you have recruits ask you about health insurance too.
